Graduate Job Searching Tips

Graduate Job Searching Tips

Are you a graduate looking for a new job opportunity? Check out our job searching tips today!

1) UPDATE YOUR LINKEDIN PROFILE

One of the first things you should do when you are a student is to make sure that you have a professional online presence. LinkedIn is a brilliant online platform to build your network with other professionals that have similar interests to you. That’s not all, it is also a great platform for you to find your next role as you can get in touch directly with hiring managers or recruiters that are looking to find their next perfect candidate. You might even get headhunted!

2) UPLOAD YOUR CV TO JOB SITES

Job sites are brilliant, as they are not just used by people that are hoping to find a new job. Employers and recruiters use job sites on a regular basis to find potential candidates. There is a strong chance that a recruiter or employer may come across your CV on a job site and they may realise that you are the ideal candidate for them.

3) USE RECRUITMENT AGENCIES

When you are looking for a new job, you should join recruitment agencies that specialise in the sector that you are looking to work in. Recruitment agencies can offer you advice on your CV and they can give you some great tips on how to enhance your job search and how to ace job interviews. They also have a great network of potential employers which will help you find a new job in no time.

4) TAILOR YOUR APPLICATION FOR EVERY ROLE

Never use the same cover letter and CV for every application. It is important to let a company or a recruiter know specifically why you are the perfect match for the role. Make sure you read the job spec carefully before applying and tailor your application accordingly.

5) STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD

When there is a huge number of graduates entering the job market each year, it is easy to blend in with the crowd. Finding new ways to make yourself more employable is vital. Stand out from the crowd by doing voluntary work, gain work experience or get free online qualifications in the area that interests you.

6) STAY MOTIVATED

Staying motivated may seem easier said than done, but however tough your job search feels, make sure that you do not give up. Remember that job hunting does take time. Set yourself a realistic target on how many jobs you would like to apply for each week to stay focused. You have got this.
