S-SA was approached by a current client who was joining an American owned software company as an MD/Sales Director tasked to set up the UK and European offering. The initial brief was to find their first UK member of staff to sit in tech presales/support – which we secured. This was shortly followed by their first Sales Consultant which then grew to a team of 15 in 1 year.

Problem

Aggressive growth plans in Milton Keynes! They become part of the Gartner Magic Quadrant and the demand for the application was phenomenal. Their focus was to take market share within 3 years, so an aggressive growth plan was put into place and a new office was secured to house 150 employees in Milton Keynes.

Solution

We had several meetings with the UK MD and a Senior Member of the US team that was now supporting the UK technical teams’ growth – we planned out an aggressive strategy that focused on Sales and Tech hires. We would achieve this by embedding a consultant into their office 2 days a week to work alongside hiring managers to achieve the new hires. We sourced candidates and interviewed them and if they were successful, we passed them straight to the hiring manager. After the first initial interview stage, we arranged a tech test and interview with the hiring manager and if the candidate was successful, they would be passed straight back to us to close and secure them as part of the team the same day. As demand grew, we set up several interview days over the weekend with candidates and the whole team were there to offer additional support during the whole process. At the weekend we would normally secure 6-8 staff, running the events biweekly.

Result

We built the team to just over 100 staff, helping set up an internal resource function, due to demand, we worked alongside them to then recruit organically. This was a superb project we were proud to be involved in. It helped us really understand the culture and to see the growth and success of the company and the staff we placed still gives us huge pride.

Outcome

They sold for 1.2 billion to VMware and most of the first wave of staff we employed became senior managers and were rewarded with shares.
